📑 What is a Certificate of Destruction?

A Certificate of Destruction (COD) is an official DVLA document that proves your car has been scrapped, recycled, and taken off the road for good. You might need a COD if your insurer has asked for it after writing off your car, or if you're applying for a government scrappage scheme.

Important! If you do need a COD, please let us know before collection. While we pay scrap prices for cars, we’re all about doing the right thing for the planet — so sometimes, if a vehicle can be safely repurposed, it might end up back on the road instead of being scrapped. That means we can’t guarantee a COD after collection unless it’s agreed beforehand. Need one? Just ask — we’ll make sure it’s sorted!
