📑 Can I scrap or sell my car without a V5c?

You can still scrap or sell your car without a V5C — but we need to be sure you’ve got the right to hand the car over.

For scrap cars, this is usually straightforward. As long as you’ve got valid photo ID, proof of address, a key for the car and the payment details match the booking then we’re good to go.

For higher-value or salvage cars, we may need to be a bit more thorough. Without a V5C, we might ask for extra proof to confirm you have the right to sell the car above and beyond that of a scrap value car — just to keep everything safe, legal, and above board.
